Asheville North Carolina March 2008
Dear Administration,

Growing up in NYC was normal for me at one time. My brother and sister-in-law were both doctors who must have been inspired by the old "Quincy" shows because they both ended up doing autopsies at St. Vincents hospital in Manhattan. After several years doing this, my brother began a job with the FDA and he now works in China 50% of the year regulating their medicines. My sister-in-law started working for the FBI doing forensic work in their Long Island NY office. My husband was a NYC Firefighter and that inspired me to become one as well. One big problem... there was not any women allowed in the FDNY. We ended up getting a group of women together, fought for our right to be on the department, and we ended up being in the first group of NYC Women Firefighters sworn in. I retired years ago due to a knee injury, and the City did take care of me.

Now we come to my sister and brother-in-law. My brother-in-law was a high school teacher in Brooklyn teaching History and my sister was an English Major in another Brooklyn high school. My sister ended up taking a job with Kingborough Community College as a Vice Principal. The reason I am talking about this is because I want to mention the importance of education and additional learning. Of course, when we were younger, my sister always pushed the education field/career, not just because it was her job, but because she knew and believed that a person with a better education and more information will most likely make better decisions in life and business. I strongly agree with her now. There are so many people in our industry that are "winging it", and are not properly educated and trained in their field. Sometimes people who claim to be professionals can hurt a client if they are careful. We all get a bad name from situations like these. There are many business workshops available throughout the year in  the Asheville area that can greatly benefit you and your business. Education and Information is the key! Take that extra class, buy that book, go on that weekend retreat with your company... and come back with a master plan! You and your company can only go as far as YOU are willing. If you are not educated in the options available (business maps), you will never get to where you were supposed to go.

Steven and Steven who?
"Two Stevens sat next to each other at high school football games; one was in band, the other in the color guard. Both were mediocre students, rarely dated, and were totally unknown. They excelled in nothing significant. One was Steven Spielberg, and the other was Steven who? Steven Scott.

Some great lessons can be learned from these two millionaires. 1. Past achievement is not a true predictor of future success. 2. If you can do one thing well - even if it doesn't seem significant - you have the potential for phenomenal success. 3. Take a close look and discover what "insignificant" successes you have had and focus on them. They could very well become the foundation of your future achievements." This is part of "A Millionaire's Notebook - How Ordinary People Can Achieve Extraordinary Success" by Steven Scott. You can view more info about this book by clicking HERE.

Crazy Market
This is one of the wildest real estate markets that I have seen since I started selling real estate in 1979. We have come from a record high in real estate in 2005 to a almost as good 2006. Our local board states the sales for 2007 decreased by 17%, but yet the average increase in value rose by 7%. Although the interest rates thus far in 2007 have been up and down a little they are still incredibly attractive to most home buyers. In conclusion it is truly a buyers market with rates still quite good, real estate still increasing, and the overall sales down. Now is the time to buy!

***Free Lesson!!! Just a quick note for those of you who do not understand the power of "Reciprocal Links" on your website. By reciprocal, I mean that your link is on one site - and that sites link is on your site. When people do this in industry related businesses, it improves your effectiveness on all of the search engines. By staying in your own world and not linking to anyone, you exclude yourself from many possibilites. By putting another companies link on your website, you are not giving "free advertising"; you are actually networking and reaffirming each other which proves big on Google and many others. Search engines think more like the human mind every day... and that is their goal. They try read our habits and then lay out exactly what we are looking for. Network and change your old business strategy. Times have changed. Things that used to work and sell are not working anymore. Buyers habits are changing daily and we need to follow them. If you are looking for a really good book about the inevitable changes happening in business today, read "The Starfish and The Spider". It may save your career or business and at least help you adjust to this new business age. Tom UFPI gave the book to Gary AFB the other day and he can't stop talking about it. The power of networking is rea!

For those of you who have already linked to our site, I want to thank you for getting this completed. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns; please hit "reply" and let me know. Thanks.

Sincerely,

Asheville Real Estate Market
We're bullish on the local market as WNC continues to buck national trends with prices sustained and an actual average increase of 10.5 percent for the region last year.  Beverly-Hanks just had the third best year in the history of the company; we believe the opportunity is there for us, and we have to do something with it. With interest rates near record lows, an abundant inventory of great properties, I would consider this one of the best times to buy real estate in WNC.

For Sellers - due to the large inventory of properties (competition), make sure your property is priced right, in showroom condition and possibly offer an incentive, i.e. seller will pay up to $4,000 in closing costs with acceptable offer etc. In addition, if you are lucky enough to have a home with mountain views, a great location, or unique in character... you're already on top of the list!
